The 10,000-seat Lodwar Stadium project has entered a new phase after the site was officially handed over to the contractor to begin a geotechnical survey ahead of construction over the next nine months.
The handover was presided over by County Executive Committee Member for Education, Sports and Social Protection Dr. Audan Leah Lokaala. It comes less than two weeks after Governor Dr. Jeremiah Lomorukai met with senior national government officials to fast-track the project.
The stadium, estimated to cost Ksh 900 million, is jointly funded by the County and National Governments.
Under the project layout, the facility will include a FIFA-standard soccer pitch, an eight-lane athletics track, changing rooms, power and water supply systems, and a VIP lounge for sports and related activities.
County officials present included Chief Officers Robert Loyelei (Sports and Vocational Training), Paul Lodunga (Education and Social Protection), Joseph Ekalale (Environment) Stenza Lomorukai (Lodwar Municipality), Triza Amoni (Energy and Mining), and Winstone Ebei (Public Works).
Also in attendance were Directors James Nateleng (Sports) and his deputy Jackson Nakusa, Director of Public Works Eng. Ignatius Kopeto, Director of Energy and Petroleum Lojore Jackson, Kanamkemer area MCA James Ikeny and national government agencies representatives
