The Department of Roads has officially handed over two key road maintenance projects in Kangatotha Ward, marking a significant step toward improving transport, trade, and access to essential services across the area.
The projects include the 57-kilometre Kangatotha–Naoros–Naipa–Akatotuman–Lokipetot–Eliye Road, valued at KSh 5.6 million, and the Loyoro–Nabulon–Rikoo Namakat Road.
The scope of works includes bush clearing, topsoil stripping, grading, and the erection of road signage to enhance safety and accessibility.
The County Surveyor Janet Bosibori directed the contractors to adhere to all procedures and involve local communities throughout implementation.
She noted that the improved roads will boost business activities, strengthen fishing networks, and enhance movement within the ward.
Another County Surveyor Ekope Meshack, emphasized the need for strict compliance with Bills of Quantities (BoQ) requirements and close collaboration with all administrators to ensure smooth project execution and accountability.
Area MCA Mathew Alany urged contractors to expedite the works so that residents can begin benefiting from improved transport links, easier access to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
Once completed, the projects are expected to significantly enhance mobility, support the fishing economy, and strengthen access to vital services across Kangatotha Ward.
