County, mining partner hold talks on possible collaborations

Chief Officer for Energy and Petroleum, Triza Amoni, hosted a team of officials from Solidaridad East and Central Africa Organization who paid a courtesy call to her office.

Solidaridad East and Central Africa Organization team lead, Ritah Njeri said that the purpose of the visit was to seek entry into the county’s mining sector as a service provider and partner of the county government.

During the meeting, Ritah shared the philosophy of the organization and expressed the desire to expand the coverage to Turkana moving forward.

While welcoming the visit, Chief Officer Amoni asked Solidaridad East and Central Africa Organization officials to make a formal request to the county government and take part in signing a joint MoU for a structured entry.

CCO Amoni also divulged that the department was spearheading the formulation of the County Mining Law with a view to making provisions for partnerships.

Present during the meeting were Stanley Loter (Director for Mineral Resources), Joseph Ekiru (Chair of the Turkana Miners Association), and association members Nahashon Cheboi and Mercy Apondi.
