In a continued effort to enhance accountability and ensure prudent use of resources, Turkana County Chief Officer David Maraka has reaffirmed his commitment to the professional development of county staff.
Speaking during the training of 60 staff on performance contracting, Chief Maraka said that continuous professional development should be embraced by all employees aiming to improve their performance levels.
The training, designed to strengthen staff capabilities, is part of a broader initiative to align employee performance with the county’s goals.
“As a government, we are accountable to the electorate for the promises made in political manifestos, development plans, pledges, and commitments, therefore, it is imperative that we demonstrate development results by strengthening the performance management framework.” Chief Maraka said.
Chief Maraka emphasized the importance of setting specific and achievable goals to motivate employees and boost accountability across all departments.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the training, noting that the skills they gained would not only benefit them individually but also improve the overall efficiency of the county government.
Chief Maraka stressed that the county’s success hinges on the dedication and skill of its staff.
“Our officers are the backbone of our operations. It is essential that every government officer works towards achieving the county’s 9-point agenda to meet the evolving needs of our community.”
The training was attended by several senior county officials, including Chris Locheria, County Director of Administration; Wasama Lokaale, County Director of Inspectorate Services; Moses Nawoton, Deputy Director of Disaster Risk Management; and Chris Losiru, Deputy Director of Inspectorate Services.
