Kisumu, 3rd December 2022 (Governor’s Press Service)­— County Assemblies in the Northrift Regional Economic Bloc are set to begin the process to ratify a bill which will give the bloc a legal framework.

Governors from the region, led by NOREB Chair and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, today met to sensitise the NOREB County Assemblies on the proposed law’s legal instruments, which will be presented on the floors of all County Assemblies for passage.

Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai took part in the discussions held in Kisumu’s Ciala Resort.

The Governors and leadership of the Member County Assemblies went through the contents of the bill and discussed timelines of the legislation process of the bill’s passage.

County Assemblies from the eight Member Counties were represented.

Other Governors present were Uasin Gishu County’s Jonathan Bii, West Pokot’s Simon Kachapin and Baringo’s Benjamin Cheboi; Deputy Governors Yulita Cheruiyot of Nandi County, Trans Nzoia’s Philomena Kapkory, Prof. Grace Cheserek of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot County’s Achaule Komole.

Also present were Speakers, Leaders of Majority and Minority, Majority and Minority Chief Whips, County Attorneys and county assembly clerks.
