County Executive for Trade, Enterprise Development, Cooperatives, Youth and Gender Affairs Elizabeth Loote met with GIZ Project Manager Gertraud Suhren to discuss ways to strengthen partnership with the County Government to promote employability and entrepreneurship among refugees and the host community.

During the meeting, Mr. Suhren highlighted the GIZ program, which focuses on improving access to target groups and increasing employment through County Biashara Centres.

GIZ livelihood specialist Chris Aletia added that this partnership will help to improve the self-reliance of youth in both refugee and host communities.

CEC Loote emphasized the importance of working together with cooperatives and youth development to empower these groups. She also requested GIZ’s support in annual events such as the Turkana Cultural Festival, International Women’s Day, and 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, as well as capacity building for targeted groups.
