Turkana’s Public Service Board has yesterday concluded interviews for the shortlisted ECDE teachers that commenced at the start of this week.
Pauline Ekod said that the preliminary reports indicated that the largely incident free exercise recorded a 99% turn out after 235 out of the expected 237 showed up.
The chair appreciated the candidates for keeping their appointments and said that the process was smooth from commencement to conclusion.
The chair hinted that the board would retreat to process the results and divulged that experience, volunteer engagement and qualification would be key merits followed to determine the 75 to be appointed by the board for onward posting to Turkanas’ ECD schools.
Noting that the board had the intentions of releasing the results before embarking on the next set of interviews, the Acting chair called on those who will be successful to immediately report to work as most of the ECD schools were not operational due to lack of staff.
While urging the candidates to wait for the results and subsequent communication from the board, the chair warned of persons calling interviewees with an intention of swindling them off their money and valuables with promises of connections to the job.
The chair explained that the board will be open to receive reports of such calls for the purpose of facilitating arrest and prosecution of the fraudsters with the help of security agencies.
