COUNTY HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH KUDURA POWER EAST AFRICA LTD, VOW TO WORK TOGETHER

The County Government through the Department of Mining and Energy, held a consultative meeting with the KUDURA Power team in Lodwar, with a commitment to work together after investing in the development of the 22 solar mini-grids across Turkana County.
The meeting narrowed down to the pertinent issues raised and finally reached a consensus-building meeting.
The concerns that were adequately addressed included alignment of the land lease agreement for generation equipment with the MoU, CSR projects, procurement, and employment opportunities.
The team agreed that KUDURA Power establishes its operation office in Lodwar with consideration of locals in its staffing.
The Energy investing organization agreed to hire a competent Liaison Officer who preferably, should be a local to link the County Government, the Company, and the Community.
Of significance, the County’s side expressed optimism to ensure energy tariffs are not too expensive as opposed to the current purchase power of the consumers.
The Chief Officer for Energy and Mineral Resources, David Maraka David, moderated the discussion which called to action all the concerns agreed upon and worked on before next week Friday to avoid further delays in the implementation of this project.
In the consultative meeting, community interest was given an emphasis and both parties jointly agreed to work together in order to ensure the project becomes a blessing to the people.
Chief Maraka underscored the commitment and support of the County Governor to investors through inter-departmental relations as a way to provide a conducive environment to investors.
He urged investors to take advantage of the enabling environment to hugely invest in Turkana.
Chief Maraka encouraged the investors to be honest and transparent in their operations while promoting local content should any job opportunity become available.

Emase Lopetet (Ag. Director Energy and Mining), Ekai Nabenyo (Director, legal affairs), Mary Nduta (Principal Administrator), Davies Munialo (Director of Physical Planning), and Jane Ebenyo (Principal Legal Officer) were present.
