THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM, CULTURE AND HERITAGE VISITS EKALEES CENTRE TO ASSESS ITS PREPARATIONS FOR THE FESTIVAL

The Chief Officer for Tourism, Culture and Heritage Triza Amoni and her Energy and Mining Counterpart David Maraka have today led a team to inspect Ekalees Cultural Centre for its readiness to host the upcoming Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival.
The visit was meant to evaluate the state of preparedness going on at Ekalees Cultural Centre in readiness to host the 7th Edition of the Festival.
The team conducted an assessment of the centre checking for ongoing groundwork.
The CCO noted that they are collaborating with relevant departments in the county to ensure that the facility’s standards are set to host the festival.
The team is in a race against time to enhance street lighting, electrical connections, and road upgrades within the Centre and ensure the availability of water in the Centre.
Chief Amoni also revealed that traditional huts are well constructed as well and plans for a facelift of the podium are underway for use during the Festival.
With the event scheduled from 12th to 14th October 2023, the two Chief Officers called for commitment from the team to work together to realize the success of the Festival.
