IOM KENYA, COUNTY DISCUSS PARTNERSHIP FOR COMMUNITY RESILIENCE AND CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION

The Deputy Chief of Mission at IOM Kenya, Sharif Faisal, paid a visit to Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus to explore avenues of collaboration between IOM and the County government.
Faisal outlined IOM’s areas of focus in Turkana, highlighting their initiatives in mobility tracking, climate action through area-based approaches, and a commitment to evidence-based funding.
He emphasized the importance of scaling up interventions and programming to enhance community resilience.
Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus commended IOM for its strategic and beneficial support in the County.
He expressed enthusiasm for initiatives aimed at integrating the community and building resilience across various areas.
The DG encouraged IOM to continue engaging in social and economic programs that align with the County Administration’s Agenda.
Talking about climate change, Dr Erus urged support for locally-led climate initiatives and assured all partners of the county’s support.
He encouraged a more strategic approach in other areas of collaboration.
Director of Climate Change, George Emase, his Deputy Thomas Kiyong’a, and IOM officials were present in the meeting.
