NATIONAL, COUNTY GOVERNMENTS EARMARK SITES FOR INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IMPROVEMENT PLAN IN LODWAR MUNICIPALITY

The National State Department of Housing and County Government has identified four sites that will benefit from the second phase of the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Plan (KISIP2) within Lodwar Municipality.
The four sites identified are Soweto, Napetet, Ngitakito, and Nabute.
The move will address the critical need for decent housing and improved living conditions for the residents in Lodwar.
Speaking during the meeting, Lodwar Municipality Manager, Eng Benjamin Tukei, unveiled the plan expressing optimism regarding the project’s potential to elevate the status of Lodwar Municipality.
He said the plan also included the provision of essential social amenities for an urbanized life.
In the meeting that included a delegation from the State Department of Housing led by Anthony Kimosop, Eng Tukei emphasized the timing of the project was opportune given the steady increase of Lodwar’s population necessitating a corresponding improvement in urban infrastructure and housing options.
“The initiative aligns with the Municipality’s growing needs and aspirations.” Manager said.
