COUNTY INAUGURATES BOARD FOR BETTER PWD INCLUSIVITY

Turkana County Government has inaugurated a Board through which matters concerning inclusion of Persons With Disabilities will be taken care of in the tendering system and access to opportunities.
The Chief Officer for Education and Social Protection, Moses Korea, said that the county would work closely with the Board, to ensure PWD in Turkana got their share of government services and employment opportunities as provided by the law.
The Board is part of the County Government’s effort to mainstream disability and enhance social protection.
Chief Etelej said that all government plans will be submitted to the Board for Integration of disability concerns moving forward.
According to CCO, plans are underway to ensure that the County Board encompasses inclusivity of all disabled from all the lowest units.
On his part, Lucas Lokusi a member of the Board said that their interest was to open up more opportunities for their clients beyond the already existing opportunities for sports and government services.
According to Lokusi, the Board was a show of commitment to the County Government to Integrate PWDs.
The meeting was attended by Ignatious Idoka (Deputy Director of Social Protection) Amos Ariong (Assistant Director, James Ekanyuku, Angoria Dongol, and members of the Board.
The meeting comes days before the marking of the World Disability Day.
