HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNDERTAKES SPOT CHECK ON HIGH VOLUME HEALTH FACILITIES IN LODWAR TOWN

The County Executive for Health and Sanitation, Dr. Anthony Apalia, accompanied by the Turkana Central Sub-County Health Management Team, has today conducted a spot check on three high-volume facilities in Lodwar Town.
The two public facilities and a private one include Ngiitakito, Nabulon, and Lodwar Hills Hospital which serve between 50 to 100 patients a day.
The spot check was to establish the support facilities required by the Department of Health to improve their services.
The Ngiitakito staff suggested that the construction of maternity and laboratory would decongest Lodwar County Referral Hospital. At the same time, it would also give the facility an opportunity to collect Linda Mama funds; disbursed by NHIF for each delivery.
Lodwar Hills Hospital was commended by the Sub-county team for making the changes as per their earlier recommendations made in a previous inspection.
The management was urged to engage in more Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
The Health Executive was accompanied by the Sub-county team; Mercy Kawira (Medical Officer of Health), Jane Atabo (Public Health Nurse), Patrick Moi (Clinical Services and NCDs Coordinator), and Julie Akorilem (Public Health Officer).
