LOWASCO BENCHMARKS AT NAKURU RURAL WATER COMPANY

Water Services Executive, Faith Aletea led a team of Lodwar Water and Sanitation Company (LOWASCO) in conducting a two-day bencmark visit of Nakuru Rural Water Company (NAWASCO).
The Managing Director of NAWASCO Reuben Rotich received the Lodwar team.
During the visit, the team toured the Turasha Water treatment plant in Gilgil, NARUWASCO Eastern area offices and its headquarters, where they interacted with the Departmental heads and staff.
The visit was prompted by the need to learn and share experiences with those well-established Water and Sanitation Companies.
NARUWASCO became the best choice of the benchmark by the LOWASCO team, as a result of its higher ratings and compliance standards that rank it top 10 by WASREB in Kenya.
CECM Faith Aletea said the valuable lessons learned from the visit would be applied in laying the foundation for the operationalization of the rural and urban water companies.
This is envisioned, she said, by the County Water Act 2016, and of Governor’s transformative Nine-Point Agenda on water access for all.
Additionally, the CECM Aletea said the team had been exposed to high-impact e-supported operations for meter reading, billing, and response to client concerns that will be carried out in Lodwar to benefit the residents of Turkana.
