The Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus today hosted a delegation from UNICEF UK who paid him a courtesy call in his office. They deliberated on strengthening the existing partnerships to improve the well-being of children.

DG Erus described UNICEF as a partner with a long history in Turkana, with interventions in the health, water, nutrition, and resilience-building sectors that have immensely transformed the lives of the people.

He cited the support towards the 25-year Water Master Plan for Lodwar Municipality. In addition to this, the DG mentioned the 76 integrated water projects in Loima and Turkana Central under the SCORE Program, as evidence of highly impactful programs UNICEF has implemented in Turkana.

Dr Erus also urged UNICEF to expand coverage of their interventions to Turkana East, owing to the great need to improve access to health and water services in the sub-county.

The County Secretary Peter Eripete added that UNICEF is a strategic partner to the County Government, owing to their implementation of many interventions that have a cross-cutting effect on the residents.

The CS welcomed the move by the UNICEF team to tour projects for a first-hand experience of the many lives touched by their programming.
