GRIOT CONSULTING FIRM EXPLORES POSSIBLE PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ON CLIMATE CHANGE WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT

The Consulting Firm is headed by George Hywel, Global Director, and Erick Kimori, East Africa Director of Operations.
They discussed strategic partnerships in the development of climate change mitigation projects among other initiatives.
Griot is a consulting company that works globally on the provision of safe drinking water to communities, engages in WASH programs, and also operates on carbon credit economies.
Chief Officer for Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Joseph Ekalale lauded the partnership noting that it resonates well with the Governor’s Nine-Point Agenda of improving livelihoods through collaborations and partnerships.
“The county remains committed to working with agencies through partnership, especially on projects and initiatives geared towards harnessing carbon sequestration to benefit carbon economies.” CCO Ekalale said.
He also noted that Griot’s interest in natural resources and environment conservation is key as the county seeks more coordination and partnerships with many stakeholders.
Similarly, Chief Ekalale added that the county is also engaging with the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), in its effort to bolster conservation in Turkana, especially in areas along the border.
Griot global Director George Hywel revealed that the company is ready to engage with county government sectors and non-government organisations to explore opportunities for partnership.
In attendance were representatives from the Department of Climate Change, Environment, Natural Resources, Agriculture, Water and Fisheries, NDMA, Kenya Forest Service, KEFRI, WFP, World Vision, and APIR.
