HEALTH DEPARTMENT MAPS PRIMARY CARE NETWORKS IN KIBISH, READY FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The County Department of Health and Sanitation officials and partners have completed mapping the primary care network to strengthen primary healthcare in Kibish Sub-County.
The primary care network findings and intensive training sessions carried out by the assessment team focused on the objectives and establishment of the primary care network system within the healthcare facilities.
The Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health, Peter Lomorukai emphasised the significance of primary healthcare to the communities.
In his remarks, Chief Lomorukai emphasized, “The government’s mandate of preventive and promotive health underscores the importance of disseminating baseline findings on the primary healthcare network for members of the public. This dissemination will enable us to closely monitor our indicators and progress.”
He specifically highlighted the instrumental role Amref Kenya, USAID Imaarisha Jamii, and UNFPA play in ensuring the success and implementation of primary healthcare across Turkana County.
The Deputy Director for Family Health Lopodo Ekal stressed the importance of identifying gaps that require immediate attention within the communities, citing them as the primary stakeholders in the vital healthcare initiative.
He further added, “Investing in facility infrastructure aligns with Kenya’s community strategy, thereby fortifying and enhancing the capabilities of Community Health Promoters.”
Fred Oroko, representing the National MOH Division of Primary Healthcare Services, highlighted the importance of integrating the proposed Kenya Digital Health Superhighway, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and ICT, to optimize healthcare services.
County Lead Representative from USAID Imaarisha Jamii/Amref Project Turkana, Anthony Arasio, was actively involved in the engagement, signifying the collective commitment towards the successful realization of healthcare.
