COUNTY, PARTNERS PLAN TO DISTRIBUTE SUPPLEMENTARY ANIMAL FEEDS THIS WEEK

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Fisheries has announced plans to distribute supplementary feeds to support pastoralists resilient to the effects of prolonged drought.
The Director for Livestock Development, Bobby Ewoi, announced the plan during a consultative meeting aimed at strategizing logistics and distribution plans with TUPADO – funded by the International Rescue Committee.
“We are prepared to dispatch approximately 132 tons of animal feeds to benefit 2647 recipients in Wards severely impacted, through extensive outreach programs,” said Ewoi.
The distribution will focus on reaching 865 pastoralists in 10 sites in Lokichar Ward, 1122 in 10 sites in Loima Ward, and 660 pastoralists in 5 sites in Lobei/Kotaruk Ward.
The Project Officer for TUPADO, Simon Echom, emphasized the significance of the supplementary feeds in supporting pastoralists whose livelihoods depend on livestock, underscoring the necessity of such intervention.
The official flagging off of the event has been scheduled for December 15, 2023, at the Mifugo Complex, Kanamkemer.
The event will be presided over by Dr. Anthony Apalia, the CECM Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries.
