NATIONAL GOVERNMENT, COUNTY CONCLUDE PLANS FOR SURVEY WORKS TO GUIDE UPGRADE OF INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IN TURKANA

Plans to commence survey works to produce cadastral maps and topographical reports, to guide the upgrade of the informal settlements project in Turkana under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP II) have been concluded in collaboration with the County Government.
The works will be carried out by consultants in the six identified locations for the project at Nabute, Ngiitakito, Soweto, and Napetet in Turkana Central, Nginokokim in Turkana South, and Lopiding, Lokichoggio Sub-County for the next two weeks.
Following a meeting with members of the County Project Coordination Team (CPCT), the Consultants, and KISIP II officials, the County Chief Officer for Urban Areas Management and Municipalities, Marian Lotieng said the county has high regard for the Project. She assured the surveyors of the necessary support during the survey period.
The Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project is funded by the World Bank. It is jointly implemented by the National and County Governments to bridge the gap in access to decent and affordable housing.
Once the survey is completed, detailed reports that integrate waste management plans, the placement of social amenities and space for development projects will be produced.
