GOVERNOR LOMORUKAI LEADS RESTOCKING AND RELIEF EFFORTS IN KALAPATA – LOPEROT

14TH JANUARY 2024 (GOVERNOR’S PRESS SERVICE)

Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai spent Sunday in Loperot, overseeing the restocking program for victims of a 2023 theft attack and distributing relief supplies to households affected by drought.
The restocking initiative, targeting 54 families who lost livestock in the attack, provided each household with eight goats. Governor Lomorukai assured residents of more support in the upcoming budget to help families rebuild their livelihoods.
He said: “We will budget for a more comprehensive restocking for households affected. We are here also to give a message of resilience and support the families which were traumatized in that attack.”
Security concerns were also a central focus of the visit. Kalapata MCA Linus Echeme highlighted the lack of security in the ward since the attack, urging immediate action. County Assembly Security Committee Chair Samuel Aliwo echoed this sentiment, calling for the establishment of a police camp in Kalapata Ward.
A host of leaders accompanied the Governor, including MCAs Samuel Lomodo (Lokichar), Etubon Samal (Katilu), and Michael Aemun (Kaputir).
County Executives David Erukudi (Trade) and Peter Akono (Lands), Chief Officers Derrick Epae (Administration and Disaster Management), James Illikwel (Finance), John Korikel (Sports and Vocational Training), and David Maraka (Water Services) also joined the efforts.
