COUNTY, CONCERN WORLDWIDE CONDUCT MASS LIVESTOCK VACCINATION IN SUGUTA SUB-COUNTY

The County Government through the Department of Livestock Development is conducting a mass vaccination of livestock with support from Concern Worldwide in Suguta.
The exercise, which is part of the Department’s drought response, targets 150,000 livestock for treatment and deworming.
While supervising the exercise, Director for Administration Joram Ewoton noted that the drive is part of the Governor’s commitment he made during his working tour in the region last year.
The Governor had assured the pastoralists of the County’s quick intervention on diseases affecting livestock in the area.
Director Ewoton further appreciated Concern Worldwide for the support in supplementing the government’s efforts, calling for enhanced collaboration between partners and both levels of government for effective service delivery to the people.
The Deputy Director for Veterinary Services Dr Erenious Nakadio, revealed that more resources will be put in place to vaccinate and treat camels in response to the community’s request. The vaccination and treatment have seen 8006 goats and sheep treated for Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia (CCP), 6333 goats and sheep Peste Des Petit ruminantes (PPR), and 14,349 dewormed in 99 households in Ngilukia, Kaamuge and Achiemchiem areas of Suguta.
The other areas targeted for the same in the new sub-county will be served subsequently.
