Kaameyan Dispensary in Letea Ward is set to be installed with a solar system to enhance health care services delivery.
The County Government through the Department of Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Resources handed over the site to a contractor for the said installation.
Acting Director for Energy Samuel Ebei said that the dispensary was one of the six health facilities in Turkana West and Lokichoggio Sub-county earmarked to benefit from the solar installations.
“Similar installation will be done at Locher-Ereng, Nakururum, Aposta, Natiira, and Kakurotuko dispensaries,” said Director Ebei.
Other than enabling the facility to offer services at night when the need arises, the solar installation will also serve as a source of electric energy for the preservation of medicines and vaccines that require cold chains.
During the site handover, the Director also shared the bill of quantities (BQ) to guide the contractor on expected outcomes and said that the County would not tolerate shoddy work.
Gideon Kipyegon (Chief Procurement officer), Ronald Karebur (Inspector, Electrical works) Daniel Adulu (Nurse in charge) were present during the unveiling of the project.
