The management of Lodwar Municipality has cautioned residents found vandalizing the solid waste dumpsites would be prosecuted.

Speaking at the site during an inspection visit of Nayanae-Angikalalio, the Chief Officer for Urban Areas Management, Marian Nakaale expressed concern about the deplorable condition of the facility, highlighting damages to the gate and perimeter fence due to vandalism.

“Such vandalism not only is it illegal but also raises the risk of future contamination,” said Nakaale.

She further added the municipality management would engage the Directorate of Inspectorate to deploy enforcement officers to the site.

The Lodwar Municipality Manager, Eng. Benjamin Tukei said that the inspection visit was part of the larger plan by the county government to address the challenge of solid waste management in the municipality.

He further added a similar caution to those who vandalized the Iloseget liquid waste dump site.

Similarly, Eng. Tukei made known that plans were underway to rehabilitate the two dumping sites to meet the needs of Lodwar’s growing population.
