A delegation from Plan International and other partners today paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Governor, Dr John Erus to discuss the Climate Proofing WASH Services (CPW) project. This is a 3-year initiative designed to strengthen the resilience and adaptive capacity of refugees and host communities in Turkana West Sub-County.
The delegation was led by Jessica Lomongin, Project Coordinator, Plan International, accompanied by officials from Water Mission and Sapcone, co -implementors of the project.
This project aims to address climate-related challenges through improved economic self-reliance and enhanced access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
The Deputy Governor commended the efforts of Plan International and its partners. He emphasized the need for joint planning, adhering to existing frameworks, and finding long-term solutions for water provision beyond the project scope.
The DG stressed the need for more expanded coverage beyond the targeted Turkana West Sub-county.
Chief Officer, of Preventive and Promotive Health, Peter Lomurkai, highlighted the importance of engaging the county in the project, echoing the Governor’s commitment to collaboration and strategic partnerships, ensuring WASH services reach the communities, and prioritizing ECDEs centers and health facilities.
Chief Officer, of Water Services, David Maraka, stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration with WASH partners towards achieving tangible results within the 3-year timeframe through clear coordination mechanisms.
