DG ERUS HOSTS FRIEDRICH NAUMANN FOUNDATION, DELIBERATES ON YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT CRISIS

Turkana County Deputy Governor, H.E Dr John Erus, today hosted the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), a Germany based organization affiliated to the Liberal Party of the Republic of Germany, who paid him a courtesy call.

The focus of FNF in Turkana involves bolstering economic development through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and youth empowerment. This includes collaboration with institutions such as Loyopo Vocational Training Centre, Turkana University College, Loropio, JICA programs, ICT hubs, and VCT centers.

Deputy Governor Erus highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships and collaboration in unlocking the potential of youth development.

“The drivers of our economy are in Vocational Training centers, colleges, and other community institutions,” he emphasised.

Judie Kaberia, Senior Project Manager at FNF, emphasized the need for sufficient resources and equipment in training institutions to mold successful individuals with applied digital skills, technology, and necessary qualifications.

Nzau Musau, also a Senior Project Manager at FNF, added that their policies and sustainable models are geared towards preparing the youth with applied digital skills, fostering readiness for remote work in Turkana County.

The team visited key institutions in Turkana including Loyopo Vocational Training Centre, Turkana University College, and Loropio.

Key County Government Executive officers who were part of the site visits include Audan Lokala, Eregae Stephen, John Korikel, Daniel Esekon Kiyonga, Peter Loyapan, and George Cheminingwa- Prof/Principal at Turkana University College.
