Residents of Kakuma Municipality and its environs will have to bear with interruption in water supply following the scheduled maintenance of boreholes serving the area.

The acting Managing Director of Kakuma Town Water Supply (KATOWASE), Zacharia Etukon, made the announcement, citing six boreholes that will be affected.

“As a company, we are committed to ensuring undisrupted supply. However, six boreholes are scheduled to undergo routine test pumping between February 25th and March 7th, 2024,” MD Zaacharia Etukon said.

The six boreholes (1, 2A, 2B, 3, Porowa, and Lodoket) supplying the main town, parts of the refugee camp, UN offices area, airstrip zone, and areas around Kakuma Arid Primary School will be affected.

“The exercise will affect water supply at Kakuma Town, Komudei, Kabokorit and Nadapal estates,” the MD clarified.

The MD said that the announcement was part of the customer-focused approach adopted by the company in order to improve service delivery.

The routine test pumping forms part of data collection efforts by both the company and the County to develop evidence informed plans for improvement of the water supply infrastructure.
