NEWLY OPERATIONALIZED LOKICHOGGIO SUB COUNTY TO GETS OWN WATER OFFICE

1st March 2024 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

A sub-county water office has been established to oversee water provision for the residents of the newly operationalized Lokichoggio Sub County, the CECM for Water Services Faith Aletea, has confirmed.

During a water stakeholders forum for the sub-county, CECM Aletea announced that a team, including a sub-county water officer, would be deployed within two weeks to assume office.

Aletea emphasized the importance of localizing service provision to eliminate dependency on Turkana West. Staff will be deployed to operationalize the office in Lokichoggio, the sub-county headquarters.

Before becoming an independent sub-county, Lokichoggio relied on water staff from Kakuma, over 85 kilometers away.

Acknowledging partners, CECM Aletea appreciated World Vision Kenya for sponsoring the forum, and the Lokichoggio community’s commitment to addressing water access challenges by attending the forum.

David Maraka (Chief Officer, of Water Services), Paul Lotum (Director, Water Services), and Obed Echip (Lokichoggio Sub County Administrator) also addressed the stakeholders forum.
