COUNTY GOVERNMENT HANDS OVER SITE FOR UPGRADE OF SPORTS GROUND AT KALEMCHUCH, KAKUMA WARD

The County Government through the department of Urban Areas Management, will construct a perimeter fence to protect the Kalemchuch Sports Ground in Kakuma Ward, Turkana West Sub County.

Chief Officer for Urban Areas Management, Marian Nakale, led a team from the department in handing over the site to the contractor to pave way for commencement of the upgrade.

“This sports ground serve as an important social amenity for games, sports and events in Kakuma Municipality and its environs. There is need to safeguard it from encroachment and trespassing through putting up a perimeter fence,” CCO Marian Nakale said.

Chief Officer Nakale emphasised County Government’s commitment to promoting sports and access to facilities for talent development within the municipality.

The site was handed over in the presence of area’s MCA Eliud Emoni, area Chief Cosmas Nakaya, Kakuma Municipality Manager- Peter Emuria and Turkana West Deputy Sub-County Administrator Amos Esilan.

The installation is expected to further promote cohesion for the host and refugee communities residing in the area and attract competitors from the neighbouring countries during sports competitions and events.

The site hand over was also attended by Peter Ngala (Ag. Director Urban Planning), Fred Akila (Senior Procurement Officer) and engineers from Roads and Public Works Department.
