The Kenyan delegation led by Eng Samuel Alima, the Secretary of Water at the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, is on its fifth and final day of the visit, after visiting AVK, a Danish global player in the manufacture of technology solutions for water, wastewater, gas and fire applications.
The Chief Officer for Water Services, Turkana County, David Maraka, is part of the delegation that includes representatives of Water Sector Trust Fund, Water Resource Authority, and the Kenya Institute of Research on Ground water.
Chief Maraka described the industrial visit as a significant part of the five-day learning tour saying the knowledge gained would be valuable in responding to the needs for technological advancement in Turkana.
“We have seen and interacted with technology for detecting leaks within the water distribution system and how to address them,” CCO said.
Following the visit, he held discussions with the factory managers on possible partnership for arresting non-revenue-water especially in Lodwar Town where more than 45% of LOWASCOs’ water could not be accounted for.
