COUNTY DIRECTORS’ RESOURCE MOBILIZATION SKILLS ENHANCED

The Deputy Governor, Dr John Erus, has opened a five-day workshop for forty county government directors on proposal writing, concept note development, and report writing to enhance their resource mobilization skills.

The purpose of this workshop, supported by USAID NAWIRI, is to improve standards and attract sustainable partnerships as well as building strong collaborations for the benefit of the people.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to USAID NAWIRI acknowledging their immense support to county government initiatives. He stated that the county government prides itself with expertise, experience and profound contributions that align with H.E. Governor Jeremiah Napotikan’s Nine-Point Agenda especially in enhancing partnerships and collaborations.

“This workshop is an attempt to get the directors together to share experiences, network, and find a way forward to share information and support each other towards filling the existing resource gaps”, stated The Deputy Governor.

According to Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyanga, the workshop has allowed the directors build cohesion and inter-office relations through sharing past experiences in their respective departments.

“This workshop can provide administrative guidance for seconding officers to different units or offices which aids in the personal and professional development of staff, enabling the County Government to realise its full potential,” he said.

During the forum, Josiah Rotino of USAID Nawiri, emphasized maximizing existing resources, stating, “There is need for the County Government and the development actors to embrace people-centric development approaches and ensuring that impactful projects are prioritized.”

The Director for Resource Mobilization Partnership and Donor Relations, Raphael Logum added that the directors need to also ensure detailed reports are provided after completion of projects to ensure continued goodwill from donors and partners.

Facilitating the workshop, the Deputy Director for Resource Mobilization, Partnership and Donor Relations Michael Aupe called upon the directors to put their best foot forward through strategic project proposals stressing that the donors are ready to fund projects.

The Director, Liaison Office in Nairobi, Mwita Joel emphasised on the need for enhanced cooperation between development partners and county government.

“Efficient working framework to ensure funds from partners are utilized for the greater impact of the county and the people is important in guaranteeing our responsibility,” he said.
