In a bid to strengthen the legislative framework for environmental sustainability, green energy, and climate resilience, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Natural Resources, and Climate Change hosted World Vision Kenya to discuss potential areas of collaborations.
Chief Officer for Environment and Climate Change, Joseph Ekalale, stated that both the environment and climate change sectors in Turkana would continue to be vulnerable if the county fails to implement legislation to safeguard them.
Chief Officer for Energy, Triza Amoni, highlighted the establishment of the Turkana Energy Centre as an area of partnership with organization alongside other partners approached regarding the initiative.
The World Vision Kenya IMARA program team, led by Dr. Alphayo Lutta, reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with the county in policy formulation and supporting renewable energy efforts, aligning with their operations and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) priorities.
County Directors present included Clement Nadio (Natural Resources) and Jackson Lojore (Energy and Petroleum), along with Deputy Directors Thomas Kiyong’a (Climate Change) and Geoffrey Eregae (Energy and Petroleum Production).
