The County Government has inspected irrigation projects to ascertain their status before handing them over to the community to improve their livelihood.
The team, led by County Executive for Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries Dr Anthony Apalia and Chief Officer for Agriculture and Land Reclamation Janerose Tioko, evaluated the progress of Morulem integrated modern drip, Namalteny and Elelea irrigation schemes in Katilia and Lokori/Kochodin Wards.
The CEC said that after completion the projects would steer the county towards food security as he urged farmers in the area to improve the management of the schemes.
The projects aim to facilitate food production through the production of assorted high-value crops such as horticulture and legumes.
Furthermore, it will utilize the dry seasonal river and prevent the conveyance loss of water through slippage for maximum use by farmers especially during the rainy season.
Chief Officer Tioko also urged all the stakeholders in the project to collaborate to ensure that the project comes out a success.
