The County Government and VSF Germany have conducted a livestock restocking program where more than 75 households of Kalemunyang, in Loima, benefitted.
The restocking program a partnership between the County Government and VSF Germany aims at empowering pastoralists affected by drought, diseases, and raids through herd restoration.
The exercise which was presided over by the County Executive for Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Fisheries Dr Anthony Apalia saw the household receive 385 goats.
“Each household will receive five goats, four of them females and one male to help in growing the herd,” he said.
CEC Dr Apalia appreciated VSF Germany for the support which he said would assist pastoralists who had incurred considerable livestock losses, especially during drought.
He further said that the county government was committed to supporting livestock farmers for increased livestock production in the county which will boost livelihood for farmers.
County Chief Officer Livestock Development, Dr Ezekiel Etelej, lauded the cabinet’s decision to approve livestock restocking which will see various pastoralists across the County benefit.
He added that it would empower communities who entirely depend on pastoralism as their main livelihood.
Director of Livestock Production Bobby Ekadon and a VSF Germany team also attended the exercise.
