COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTERS REPRESENTATIVES PLEDGE TO STRENGTHEN LINKAGE BETWEEN COMMUNITY AND HEALTH FACILITIES

Lodwar – July 24, 2024 (Public Communications and Media Relations)

The Directorate of Community Health Services held a meeting with the Community Health Promoters (CHPs) representatives to discuss leadership and governance in an effort to increase community uptake of healthcare services across the county.

The meeting, supported by USAID NAWIRI, saw representatives drawn from all the 30 wards. Their discussions also entailed intensifying the promotion of immunisation and antenatal, reproductive health, among other services. This was through the strengthening linkage between the community and health facilities.

Speaking at the meeting, the County Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Cathra Abdi highlighted that the county government, under the leadership of the Governor, had ensured that there was consistency in the CHPs’ stipend payment.

“More effort is required to empower community to take control of their health at the household level, through creating awareness, demand creation, and responsiveness to health issues at the community level,” she said.

Director for Community Health Services (CHS), Dr Joseph Lolepo and Deputy Director for CHS Jonathan Longiti also addressed the CHPs.

Present at the meeting were including Peter Ekope (Ag Deputy Director for Primary Healthcare) and Gabriel Lopodo (Head of Family Health), and all Sub-county Community Health Focal Persons.
