The County Department of Health Services has finalized its Annual Work Plan (AWP) for the 2024-2025 year, emphasizing improved service delivery at the primary healthcare level and advocating for the promotion of health service uptake.

The AWP, jointly developed by heads of health directorates and sector partners, is based on a careful analysis of previous programs and the provisions of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).

The plan outlines key interventions to be executed by the department, focusing on health promotion, disease eradication, improved access, and partnerships.

These efforts aim to achieve the goal of providing the highest level of healthcare access, as envisioned in the Governor’s nine-point agenda.

Speaking after the completion of the AWP, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, James Lobokan, stated that the document integrates evidence-based approaches and risk control methods.

The Deputy Chief of Party at USAID, Misingi Imara, commended the health department for involving development partners in the planning process, noting that this collaboration would promote effective resource utilization in addressing health-related gaps in Turkana.

Once approved, the plan will serve as the main guide for interventions by the department and health partners over the next fiscal year.

Representatives from USAID NAWIRI, Save the Children, Concern Worldwide, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) were also present.
