COUNTY GIFTS SOLAR PANELS TO POWER THE BOREHOLE FOR ARTISANAL MINERS

The County Government through Directorate of Mining, Energy, and Petroleum Resources has distributed four solar panels each with a capacity of 285 watts were handed over to power the borehole for the community, aimed at improving water access for the artisanal miners.

Led by the Chief Officer for Energy, Triza Amoni, Namerio Lopokoi who received the solar panels on behalf of Muruongor Artisanal Miners Association was happy and acknowledged the support.

“The borehole is intended to improved water access and boosted productivity. These solar panels will further enhance the borehole’s functionality, creating a more conducive environment for artisanal mining,” said Chief Amoni.

Welcoming the move, Lopokoi, stated that the solar panels would reduce work disruptions caused by the need to manually draw water from the borehole.

“We appreciate this initiative, as it ensures the sustainability of our work,” he said.

Director of Energy Jackson Lojore noted that the donation is part of the county’s commitment to green and renewable energy solutions, as outlined in Governor’s Nine-Point Agenda

This handover comes as the county intensifies efforts to improve the lives of artisanal miners by enhancing access to essential amenities such as water, electricity, sanitation, and security at mining sites.

Present during the hand over was Michael Ejikon, the Senior Mining Inspector.
