TWELVE FINALISTS TO COMPETE IN MISS TURKANA TOURISM PAGEANT

A total of twelve models have been selected to compete in the Miss Turkana beauty pageant, set to take place during the 8th edition of Tobong’ulore Miss Tourism Night Festival.

The event is scheduled to take place between 24th and 27th September 2024 at the Ekalees Cultural Centre.

The finalists were chosen from a pool of 20 applicants who participated in the rigourous preliminary auditions.

The Director of Tourism, Abdul Lomuria, highlighted that the selection process was designed to ensure fairness and transparency.

“The twelve nominees will undergo two weeks of intensive training to elevate the quality of the Miss Tourism contest at the 8th edition of the Tobong’ulore Festival,” Lomuria said.

The contenders expressed satisfaction with the fairness of the auditions.

“The process was as fair and transparent as expected. I want to take this opportunity to appreciate both the organizers and judges for providing equal opportunities to all contestants,” Norah Akwabai, one of the contenders said.

The winner of the competition will be crowned Miss Tourism Turkana County, with the opportunity to represent the department in both local and international event geared towards marketing the tourism potential of the county.

Besides, the winner will be entered in various beauty contests including the national Miss Tourism Kenya competition.

The panel of judges included senior tourism officers Thomas Kipseba, Nancy Esekon, Mercy Ekaale, and Coleman Esuron.

In addition to the tourism officers, the panel also included seasoned former winners of the coveted crown and experienced hands in the field of peagentry in Turkana including Magdaline Takangiro, Linda Angelei and Charity Lotira.
