NEPAD/APRM SECRETARIAT DELIBERATES ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a hosted officials from the NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat, led by CEO Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya.

The team discussed forthcoming County Peer Review Mechanism (CPRM) process.

The meeting focused on the vital role the review will have in enhancing governance and development in Turkana.

Through the CPRM, the Secretariat seeks to foster transparency, accountability, and good governance at the county level.

DCS Nyang’a emphasized such partnerships and collaboration are crucial in achieving Turkana’s development goals.

“The county government is committed to the CPRM process as it presents a valuable opportunity for the county to identify areas of improvement and encourage a culture of continuous development.”

The Director of APRM and Governance, Peter Kimemia, outlined the structure of the CPRM process. He also highlighted its efforts to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the LAPSSET Corridor Project, stating it remains a flagship program for sustainable development in the region.

Chief Executive Committee Members present, including David Erukudi, Peter Akono, and Faith Aletia, shared insights on the impact of various LAPSSET projects.

Chief Officers present included Joseph Epuu, Pauline Tangarae, Leah Losuru, Moses Korea, Eng. Mark Achila.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority, and Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) were also represented.
