A total of twelve models have successfully completed their training for the prestigious Miss Turkana Tourism pageant. The crowning is set to take place on 24th October 2024 at Ekaales Center.
The finalist were chosen from a pool of twenty applicants who participated in the rigorous preliminary auditions.
Under the guidance of lead trainer Linda Ang’elei, a former title holder and an experienced hand in beauty an fashion, the finalists have spent weeks honing their skills in various areas, including public speaking, cultural awareness, and confidence building.
The contestants, all young ladies from different parts of Turkana County, have been preparing to showcase not only their beauty but also their knowledge of the region’s rich cultural heritage, natural resources, and tourism potential.
Speaking at the conclusion of the training, Linda Ang’elei commended the finalists for their dedication and growth throughout the training.
“These young ladies are not just competing for a crown, they are ambassadors of our culture and heritage. They have shown incredible commitment, and I believe they are all winners in their own right. Tomorrow’s event will be a celebration of their hard work and their pride in Turkana.” Linda Ang’elei Said.
The Miss Turkana Tourism pageant, which forms part of the ongoing Tobong’u Lore Festival, aims to promote Turkana as a top cultural and tourist destination.
The winner of the pageant will be crowned Miss Tourism Turkana County with the unique opportunity to represent the county at various events, both locally and internationally, advocating for tourism development and cultural preservation.
One of the finalists, Bunny Esinyen a 22 year old, expressed her excitement ahead of the crowning.
“This has been a transformative experience for me. I have learned so much about my culture and how to present myself confidently. I’m excited about tomorrow, and I hope to win the crown and make Turkana proud.” Bunny Esinyen stated.
The trainers also included seasoned former winners of the coveted crown and experienced hands in the field of pageantry in Turkana including, Charity Lotira and Magdaline Takangiro.
