KENYA WUAHU TEAM WOWS CROWDS AT TOBONG’U LORE FESTIVAL

For the first time in its history, the Tobong’u Lore Festival featured a captivating Kungfu demonstration by the Kenya National Wushu Team, leaving a lasting impression on the crowd.

Supported by the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Zhou Jin Ping, the performance also included an elegant Chinese traditional dance, highlighting the growing cultural exchange between China and Kenya.

Master Edwin Monza, the team’s lead instructor, stated that the goal of their performance was to popularize Wushu martial art in Kenya and promote Chinese culture.

In a speech read on his behalf by Turkana Central Deputy County Commissioner Thomas Kipsiele, Ambassador Zhou Pingjian praised the Tobong’u Lore Festival as a significant platform for global cultural exchange.

The ambassador revealed that China is working on a program aimed at boosting tourist visits from China to Kenya, setting an ambitious target of five million visitors in the short term.

The introduction of Wushu to the festival marked a turning point in its evolution, positioning it as a truly international event.
