County Government, in conjunction to two green energy partners, has focussed on improving access to key products and services for cooking energy consumption.
The partners, Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP) and Nyalore Impacts, are renowned players in green energy programs.
The move, likely to usher in a shift of appliances used for cooking, also carries the advantage of addressing environmental and health issues arising from current use of traditional methods including charcoal and raw firewood.
At a meeting to demonstrate the alternatives, Chief Officer for Energy Triza Amoni welcomed the partnership venture, noting the potential impact for positive change through the intended shift.
Additionally, the chief officer said that the County was in the process of creating a database of all energy actors for which both Nyalore and KOSAP had already been included in the list.
Through the two organizations, populations residing in rural and hard to reach locations of Turkana have had significant improvement on energy access.
Present during the meeting were department officers and partner representatives.
