The handover ceremonies of county executive and chief officers took place in various departments following an executive order issued by the Governor last week.
This order directed the transfer of county executives and chief officers across several departments.
Presided over by Deputy County Secretary (DCS), Hon. Joseph Nyanga emphasized the critical role of county employees in delivering quality services to the public.
He urged all staff to align their efforts with the governor’s nine-point agenda, which aims to enhance service delivery and improve the overall well-being of the community.
“Our mission is to serve the people effectively and efficiently. It is imperative that we all work together to achieve these goals,” stated DCS Nyanga.
He further called for fostering a collaborative work environment that ultimately benefits residents and strengthens the county’s operational framework.
During the handover to the incoming Chief Officer for Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Marianne Lotieng, the outgoing officer – Janerose Tioko, expressed her gratitude to staff who had shown professionalism and immense support throughout her tenure in the department.
In her remarks, Chief Officer Lotieng thanked the staff for their warm reception and promised to work collaboratively to advance the department’s agenda of achieving food security through cooperation, consultation, and mutual respect.
At the same ceremony, the new County Executive for Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Fisheries, Longole Wangiros, affirmed his commitment to his role, expressing a desire to increase food production within the county by working closely with all staff involved in the department.

Meanwhile, Cathra Abdi has taken over as Chief Officer for Public Service and Administration from Marianne Lotieng, who has been moved to Agriculture and Land Reclamation in the same capacity.

At the handover ceremony for Chief Preventive and Promotive Health Officer, outgoing Cathra Abdi, shared insights from her tenure, noting areas requiring special attention, including the ongoing mpox outbreak, strengthening human resources for health, completing primary care network projects, and increasing Social Health Authority registrations.
As she assumed her new role, Tioko reassured her technical team of her support and emphasized the need for teamwork to achieve the health department’s goals, particularly in alignment with the Governor’s nine-point agenda.
CEC Wangiros Longole, the County Executive for Health, also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of strengthening partnership and collaboration with the 67 partners.
