Turkana County has sent a team to represent the region at the 11th Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games, scheduled to take place in Kakamega.
County Secretary Peter Eripete flagged off the team, handing them the official county flag and urging them to uphold the county’s reputation at the national event.
Turkana’s contingent will participate in a wide range of competitions, including ball games, athletics, indoor sports, and board games, both individually and in teams.
In his address, Mr. Eripete emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and encouraged the team to aim for a better trophy tally than in previous years. He highlighted the county government’s commitment to sports development, noting that the event demonstrates the investment in nurturing talent.
“We recognize the challenges in accessing sports kits, materials, and training equipment. Efforts are underway to address these gaps to enhance future performance,” he assured.
Chief Officer for Vocational Education and Sports Leah Losiru, alongside Sports Director James Nateleng and Deputy Director Jackson Nakusa, also addressed the team, expressing confidence in their readiness and wishing them success in the week-long competitions.
The KICOSCA games provide a platform for counties to showcase their talent, promote cultural exchange, and foster inter-county cooperation through sports.
