DR. EPEM TAKES OVER AS TURKANA COUNTY’S NEW HEALTH EXECUTIVE

Dr. Epem Esekon has officially assumed the role of County Executive for Health and Sanitation in Turkana County. The handover ceremony was presided over by Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a.

The Deputy County Secretary emphasized that the transition aimed to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to the health sector.

Dr. Epem, previously the CEO and Director of Lodwar County Referral Hospital, expressed his commitment to building upon the progress achieved by his predecessor. “We share a common vision to transform healthcare, and we must continuously monitor our progress towards Agenda 4,” he said.

Outgoing County Executive Longole Wangiros commended the teamwork within the department and wished Dr. Epem success.

Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health, Janerose Tioko, acknowledged the mentorship provided by CEC Wangiros and encouraged Dr. Epem to address staffing gaps, enhance coordination, and promote effective communication.

Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr. Ezekiel Etelej, appreciated the outgoing CEC’s role in streamlining the department’s structure.

The department’s directors assured Dr. Epem of their full support and extended their best wishes to Longole Wangiros.
