A county team led by Chief Officer Cicilia Majuma conducted an assessment of the Moruanayece site ahead of the upcoming commemoration event on December 14th.

The annual commemoration celebrates the region’s rich cultural heritage and promotes unity among the Ateker communities, including the Karamojong, Jie, Toposa, Nyangatom, and Turkana.

The assessment focused on evaluating the site’s readiness, including access routes, sanitation, and security arrangements. The team also engaged with local leaders and community representatives to gather input on additional preparations.

Chief Officer Majuma emphasized the significance of the event and the need for thorough preparations to ensure its success. “This event not only honors our history but also fosters cultural pride and cohesion among the Ateker Communities,” she stated.

This year’s commemoration is expected to feature traditional performances, peace dialogues, and exhibitions showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of the region.
