WATER SERVICES RESTORED AT LOPIDING HOSPITAL, KAPETADIE AFTER BOREHOLE REPAIRS

Lopiding, January 16, 2025 (Public Communications and Media Relations)

Water supply services at Lopiding Sub-County Hospital in Lokichoggio have been restored following the repair of a borehole that serves the facility.

Similar repairs have also restored the functionality of the animal water trough and community water points at Kapetadie.

Confirming the restoration of services, Lokichoggio Sub-County Administrator Obed Echip noted that the technical team had also been directed to conduct similar repairs in Longolekomwa, and Keachamun to ensure consistent water supply in the affected areas.

“I can confirm that the borehole is now functional. Both the hospital and the neighboring village are now accessing water services,” said Echip.

The repair has significantly eased pressure on the cross-border health facility, which not only serves the entire sub-county but also caters to patients from neighboring South Sudan and Ethiopia.

The completion of repairs at the Kapetadie area will save both the local area and cross border pastrolists from having to travel long distances in search of water for their livestock.

Additionally, the County Department of Water recently deployed a Sub-County Water Officer to Lokichoggio, a move that has enhanced response time, routine maintenance, and overall water service management in the area.

According to the Sub County Administrator, Echip Obed, the intervention was a show of the County’s commitment to strengthening essential services and ensuring uninterrupted water supply for critical health facilities and pastrolist communities.
