A multi-sectoral team in charge of Financing Locally Led Climate Change Action (FLLoCA) projects under the Contract Implementation Team (CIT) held its inaugural meeting to assess status of projects.
The team, chaired by the Director for Climate Change, George Emase, reviewed reports of all the 33 projects under implementation across the County, and is expected to deliver a report to inform next level of assessment.
According to the Director, the review also incorporated sustainability and impact tracking to ascertain the extent to which the projects have transformed livelihoods.
“The review follows a laid down procedure by the World Bank, the funding partner. The team is also keen on community involvement,” he said
With the preliminary report indicating that desirable progress had been realized across projects, the review also indicates the need for additional efforts.
The FLLoCA initiative is being implemented by the Turkana County Government, and it aims to support locally-led solutions to climate change and promote sustainable development in arid and semi-arid regions.
The County Government officials present included Ignatius Lopeto ( Director for Public Works) Phoebe Ekali (Director for Environment) Josephine Emase (Deputy Director for Livestock Production), Philemon Ekadeli and Naomi Lokiyor (Climate Change officers).
