Magereza Deposit-Taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) has elected a new delegate representative to serve in its management and advocate for members’ interests.

The election was supervised by the County Directorate of Cooperatives and Marketing and witnessed by top officials from the Kenya Prisons Department, from which most its SACCO members are drawn.

The Director of Cooperatives, Shemmy Ekuwom, emphasized the importance of adhering to SACCO regulations and appointing competent personnel to strategic positions to enhance financial stability.

“We must remain committed to the SACCO’s growth and sustainability for a stronger financial future. This reminds us that whatever we save today will secure our future,” Ekuwom stated.

Officer in Charge of Lodwar Prison, Mr Odhiambo Emmanuel, welcomed the cooperative officers and stressed the significance of fair and competitive elections in ensuring only eligible candidates are selected for leadership positions.

A renowned long-serving SACCO member, Korinyang Emmanuel, clinched the position as the new delegate representative.

Also in attendance were Deputy Officer in Charge of Lodwar Prison, Daniel Lokolia; Sub-County Cooperative Officer, Sarah Arukudi; Cooperative Officer, Ekipor Sofari; and SACCO members.
