COUNTY GOVERNMENT FINALIZES PREPARATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The Directorate of Gender and Youth Affairs has concluded its final preparations for International Women’s Day, set for tomorrow- Saturday, March 8, 2025.This year’s theme is “Accelerate Action,” which emphasizes the need for swift and decisive measures to achieve gender equality.

To kick off the celebrations, a special engagement led by Turkana’s First Lady H.E Lilian Ekamais was held at Lodwar Prison, where incarcerated women received dignity kits and guidance.

The First Lady emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable women stating, “As women educationalists, our priority should be unlocking equal rights, power, and opportunities for all.”

The County Attorney Ruth Emanikor highlighted the need for a transformed society where women’s rights are upheld through legal protection, improved access to services, and eliminating stereotypes.

Also in attendance were Chief Officers- Pauline Tangarae (Trade and Cooperative Development) and Joseph Epuu (Youth and Gender Affairs) and the Director Gender Affairs Mollen Onderi.
