The County, through Directorate of Climate Change, and Naperobei Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Project’s Management Committee has conducted a survey to design the piping infrastructure to channel water from the Red Burner B borehole to serve the community near it and Naperobei, in Turkana Central Sub-county.
The joint assessment, which included a technical team from Department of Water Services, marks a crucial step in the implementation of the climate resilient water project both in Naperobei and Red Burner B area which had faced prolonged water shortages.
The survey aimed to determine the most efficient route for the pipeline, ensuring minimal environmental disruption while maximizing water distribution to the community. The technical team analysed the terrain, elevation, and potential obstacles that could affect the pipeline’s design and functionality.
Speaking during the exercise, Director for Climate Change George Emase emphasized the need of the survey in actualizing the FLLoCA project, which seeks to enhance water accessibility for Naperobei and Red Burner B communities.
“These communities have struggled with water shortages for a long time. This survey is a key step in ensuring they will soon have access to fresh water through the FLLoCA project,” said Director Emase.
Director Emase reaffirmed the directorate’s commitment to facilitating climate resilient water solutions in collaboration with local communities.
